School Visit to Kemsley View

Local school children visit Bancon Homes housing development to learn about new build house construction

Sixteen school children from Finzean Primary school visited Bancon Homes’ development Kemsley View in Aboyne this week, donning hi-visibility jackets and hard hats to learn about how construction sites operate and what building new homes entails.

The children, aged between five and six have been working on a school project on Houses and Homes and once kitted out in all the appropriate safety clothing, they were shown the construction site and showhome as well as learning how it is all built. Once back at school the children will be continuing the project by creating exciting drawings about their visit.

Mrs Jamieson, one of the teachers for the children, said: “Building sites are fascinating places for everyone – especially young people - so we are very grateful to Bancon Homes for allowing the children to see what happens on site and to also visit their showhome at Kemsley View.

This is a great way for the children to learn about the construction process and fits in perfectly with our project on houses and homes where we have been learning about all types of housing. They got to see safely what goes on behind the scenes when new homes are being built. It was a fabulous experience for them.”
