Couple Married For 48 Years Excited For “Golden” Future In New Home

Approaching their 50^th year of marriage, John and Pat Wright were looking for a change in lifestyle.

Retired petroleum engineer John (75) and his wife Pat (71) recently moved into their new home at Bancon Homes’ exclusive Milltimber West development after falling in love with its traditional layout and modern twist.

Having lived in a converted steading in Crathes for 12 years, the couple decided it was time to move to a new home that would relieve the need for ongoing maintenance.

Pat said: “We saw the development taking shape while passing on a regular basis. It wasn’t until our previous house was becoming too big for us that we started to consider the benefits of buying a new build.”

The Wrights were impressed by the five-bed Craigievar style house at Milltimber West and its high-specification finish throughout, including designer kitchens with granite or stone worktops and Siemens appliances, oak finishings, bespoke wardrobes and a landscaped garden.

The house features a separate double garage, which leaves ample living space for the downsizers to invite family and friends to stay.

As a new build, the home is equipped with the latest eco-friendly, cost-effective heating system and meets high energy-efficiency standards. This was an important factor for the couple when deciding to leave their well-loved home.

John said: “We wanted the convenience of a modern property that is well insulated and easy to keep warm, unlike older buildings which usually require significant maintenance. We also loved the attention to detail in Bancon’s properties, not to mention that ‘brand new’ feeling.

Located in one of the most desirable suburbs of Aberdeen, Milltimber West is close to shops, leisure activities and the Deeside railway line, where there are panoramic views of the River Dee.

Pat added: “There are so many things about the area that we love, which is why we chose to move closer to Banchory and Aberdeen.

“As we are members at Kippie Lodge, it’s lovely being nearby to meet our friends. The development isn’t too big and all of the neighbours have been great at welcoming us to our new home.”

Since moving in a few weeks ago, the couple are now looking forward to many comfortable years with the luxury of modern features.

John added: “Moving house is always a major undertaking, but Bancon could not have done more to make the process as smooth as possible. We are convinced that it has been the right move for us and we are looking forward to the years ahead.”
