New technologies are being developed to save us money, reduce harmful emissions and ultimately, save us time. Like our cars and mobiles, our homes are evolving to be more efficient, convenient and smart.

Although connected homes are still in the early adopter phase, Mintel has reported that 11% of UK consumers now have smart thermostats such as HIVE installed in their homes and one in 20 have voice-controlled speakers, despite Amazon Echo only launching in September 2016.

Home owners are rapidly realising the benefits of connecting their devices to control heating, security and lighting and value the ability to control and monitor these settings remotely. In fact, one in five are interested in applying each of these functions in their homes (Mintel, 2017).

Monument View in Inverurie is one of our newest developments with 43 homes that feature some of the latest innovations in smart technology.

This is our first site to have HIVE heating control systems to be installed as standard, allowing our buyers to access and control their heating systems on their phones from any location.

The homes at Monument View also feature high-speed broadband, USB sockets, energy saving lightbulbs and white goods that use 25% less energy consumption and water, all installed as standard and ready to use as soon as house buyers move in.

When buying a new build rather than an older property, the latest innovations can be easily installed or included in the standard property design.

Our design manager, Bob MacArthur said: “Technology has moved on and new homes are designed to suit modern, open plan living. The trend was previously for separate kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms, but nowadays buyers usually prefer a large, open space in which to cook, eat and socialise.

“We spend time and effort looking at the specification, which includes fitted wardrobes in every bedroom. We aim to create the stepping stones you’d naturally go through in each room and make sure we have thought of everything, like adding USB ports to selected sockets so phones can be charged easily.”
